A LITTLE LOGIC PLEASE [Mysterious death] Number 60 APRIL 24, 1969 John M. Crawford, 46, died in a mysterious plane crash, near Huntsville, Texas on Tuesday, April 15, 1969. Crawford, pilot of the Department of Corrections plane took off late at night without authority and within minutes nosedived into a muddy field a few miles from the airport. Five other persons also died in the crash. Others who died were airport manager George Robert Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greene and the Greene's two children. Investigators found the cars of all three men at the airport with ignition keys still in the locks and Mrs. Greene's purse on the seat of the Greene car. The Dallas Morning News of Friday, April 18, 1969 says: "A stereo set was still playing in Clark's trailer home at the airport when investigators checked Wednesday morning, indicating he may have left in a hurry. "An airport attendant said the position of the wheel blocks where the plane had been stored in its hangar indicated the departure had been carried out in a rush." Crawford was a homosexual and a close friend of Jack Ruby. Ruby carried Crawford's name and phone number in his pocket at all times. Crawford was also a life-time friend of Buell Wesley Frazier, the neighbor who took Oswald to work that fatal morning of November 22, 1963. Crawford and Frazier grew up together in Huntsville, Texas.[Emphasis mine] * * * * The above is quoted from Penn Jones, Jr's "Forgive My Grief III" (page 56). It appears as a straight forward account of another of Penn's mysterious deaths. Digging deeper I contend a logical person would question elements of that report which would then call additional parts of the story into doubt. The story has been retold with some modification in "High Treason" pp. 250-251. Jim Marrs mentions the relationship (probably paraphrasing Jones) between Crawford, Ruby and Frazier on page 562 of "Crossfire." Back to the primary source . . . Penn Jones Jr. I applied the strict tests Jones often used on the "Warren Report" to his account that "Crawford and Frazier grew up together in Huntsville." At the time of the assassination Buell Frazier was 19 years old. That is a well documented fact. Jones' "research" shows Crawford died April 18, 1969 at age 46. The Kennedy assassination occurred 6 years earlier. The question: If Frazier was 19 and living in Irving with his sister and Crawford 40 and living in Huntsville. How could they possibly grow up together at all let alone in Huntsville? By Jones' admission when Crawford was 22 Frazier was 1 year old! A major part of the story is tainted. If simple mathematics shows the impossibility of the situation what else is wrong? Where is the proof/background of the following statements: Crawford was a homosexual. Crawford was a close friend of Ruby. Ruby carried Crawford's name and phone number in his pocket at all times. What is the name of the "airport attendant?" How does the position of the wheel blocks denote a quick departure? What experience does the mystery attendant have that qualifies him as an expert on wheel block location? In fairness the whole discussion of the incident from the "Dallas Morning News" should have been presented including: "It is pure speculation only, but Crawford, who was fond of children and loved them all, may have on the spur of the moment offered to take the kids up on a flight. But that would have been against rules and he (Crawford) was no rule breaker." Dr. George Beto Director State Department of Corrections Is Beto's speculation less competent than Jones'? Are an individual's credentials above reproach because that person claims to be a competent researcher or because the individual has written a book? Should we accept their theories only because they share our views? On many occasions the "researchers" and "authors" are guilty of the same tactics as the Warren Commission. It is time for us to listen to Jim Marrs' admonition. "Always question authority" He is right but we should start by questioning the abilities of some of the self styled authorities on the Kennedy case. I conclude with an anecdote. On April 20, 1991 my wife and I had some friends over to the house. This group was made up of individuals interested in the assassination and included Buell Frazier and his wife Betty. Robert Groden dropped by later on in the evening. Robert was at KLIF radio for a talk show on the assassination. When Robert arrived he was introduced to Buell Frazier. Later that evening Buell asked Groden who John Crawford was? Robert's response . . . "See Harry, I didn't write that part of the book." David B. Perry 4601 Ainsworth Circle Grapevine, Texas 76051
